Hello!
Data Science Nigeria recently turned 5 and as part of our anniversary celebration, we’re giving you a special gift! You can now download the Artificial Intelligence for Starters e-book for free today on https://lnkd.in/gypMqWtp
The celebration marks five years of innovation and impact in our drive to raise one million Artificial Intelligence (AI) talents and lead the development of AI solutions that will enhance the quality of life and wellbeing of over two billion people in emerging markets.
The work of DSN has reached over 500,000 online and offline learners, coupled with high-impact research papers which have been presented at the world's leading AI conferences.
One of DSN's papers on the use of AI to address financial inclusion was the best poster at the 21st edition of the ACM Conference on Economics and Computation (EC' 20), the world's premier conference on the interface of economics and computer science, organized by the Association for Computing Machinery, New York, United States.
As DSN marks its fifth anniversary, it is taking on a dual business model where it monetizes its research work for the sustainability of its non-profit efforts. The new extension, DSN AI Innovation Limited, will operate in Nigeria and the United Kingdom focusing on advanced AI solutions development and deployment in the areas of Fintech, EdTech and MedTech.
In addition, DSN has unveiled a new logo to reflect its global positioning and expansion beyond Nigeria. The logo, which has the global map of the world and emphasizes the DSN short name identity, will reflect the organization's ambition to deliver high-impact AI solutions across the world while also expanding its free training and research network across many countries beyond Nigeria.

Opeoluwa Iwashokun Shares Her DSN Story
I attended the DSN launch on November 26th 2016, almost exactly 5 years ago, to listen to the keynote speaker (Dr Uyi (O.T.) Stewart). I sent him a LinkedIn invite a few weeks earlier requesting his mentorship and I was really looking forward to meeting him.
Fast forward to 2018 and 2019, I attended onsite DSN bootcamps, participated in several Kaggle and Zindi competitions, pitched 3 AI startup ideas, won best female and 3rd place poster award at IndabaX 2019, presented my biometric recognition software tool (CV based) before Japanese delegates to Nigeria, won a trip to AI Indaba conference in Kenya and so on.
